Here is the updated brand identity and concept for ECO RE:STORE.
This will include:
- Business plan
- Brand guidelines
- Brand identity (web presence)

Finally my customized masking tapes have arrived. less than day before assessment!
I wouldn’t have time to take proper studio pictures of the boxes being wrapped in kraft paper + masking tape etc but here are some pictures of how it looks..

Being an online store, myecorestore.com has to establish a strong online presence. As part of the ECO Singapore ‘family’, the URL has adopted my in front of ecorestore.com. As much as I was pretty against it, I had to compromise.
Nonetheless here are some mock-ups of the RE:STORE website which I will then run by on [...]

Placed a number of orders for my rubber stamps, it was extremely hard to source for WOODEN stamps. They usually come in plastic, with plastic handles, plastic everything.
I decided to order from 2 different companies just to play it safe and I am glad I did that. 2 wooden stamps of better quality from one [...]

Stumble upon this online and it gave me the idea produce custom design parcel/masking tape for ECO RE:STORE.
The tape could be have multiple uses, from taping boxes, wrapping, advertisements purposes.
I designed a few versions of tape and had to source for suppliers which was a nightmare. The initial supplier I enquired sent me samples etc [...]

Discovered the possibility of laser cutting as well as engraving on the same piece of wood is possible as well as alot simpler and faster. Learnt the hard way as I wasted a precious minutes of my booked hour sorting out alignments and whatnot. None the less, I was able to complete my laser cutting [...]

So we had our interim assessment today for the SIP and I wasn’t extremely prepared as most of the materials were not ready (i.e. brand stamps, masking tape, brand guidelines properly printed) Almost everything was at a mock-up stage except the leaves. My blog also could not be accessed which was a NIGHTMARE. Uni’s wi-fi [...]

More laser cutting continues, I think I have used the facilities at least 4 times in total.
I found a place which has leaves in abundance in London and I do not need to travel as far away, it’s right across the road from my house!
Anyway I bought my balsa wood, learnt that laser cutting on [...]

So from this leaf concept which I had previously blogged (http://hello.iampingpong.com/?p=2022) I decided to see what I could do with it using the University’s facilities. There is a laser cutter in Camberwell College of Arts so I decided to book it to run some laser cutting tests on some leaves.
I went around Hyde Park scruffling [...]

In order to craft my own brand guidelines for ECO RE:STORE, I looked at the guidelines from Heineken, Major Players and Hands On Network.
They might be pretty confidential so I will only upload it for assessment.

Here it is! The pretty much final logo. It is a combination of MUSEO and LTUnivers. Apparently MUSEO is not a sans serif font but more of a demi-serif which is a modern version of the sans serif fonts.
Chosen font families are also shown below. Time to work on the brand guidelines.

So after browsing a few more design sites and relooking at my blog compilations, here are some first proper drafts of a ECO RE:STORE logo. Tried to design a treehouse logo but it turns out too complicated to be a logo.
Went to speak to Sian and Monica regarding the logos to test if they have [...]

A bit more progress this time! Found some sites for logo inspirations, here are some screen grabs from http://www.area17.com/work/misc-logos/1

So finally after all the looking around at other people’s brands and having finally sorted out the brand values etc for ECO RE:STORE, it was time to start designing!
Here are jpegs of my font testing and trying about. Been looking at quite a mix of serifs and sans serifs as I am unable to make [...]

While skype calling the other 2 partners at 4am in the morning, we devised and agreed on some values etc but they left it mostly to me to sort it out.
Here are some ’scribbles’ of the values and words which came to mind during our brainstorm.
SO YES.
Be REAL

Time to evaluate the values and core idea behind ECO RE:STORE.
I sought help and guidelines from some slides on branding from Blue Marlin, as seen below.
Was able to get my hands on the presentation slides thanks to Scarlett who attended a branding workshop with them.
I sought out to first solidify the BRAND ESSENCE and BRAND [...]

Been discussing and talking to my 2 other partners of late, about our mission statement, values etc
It is quite a challenge to have to explain it to them but because we have been working on the Business Plan submissions for the competition, we were forced to ask ourselves certain questions.
Here is the gist of our [...]

I just had an IDEA immediately after posting about the UNIQLO web projects. I was thinking along the lines of creating or conceptualising a online/computer based application which could be a ‘brand experience’ fro RE:STORE. A RE:Cycle bin on your computer desktop!
Hmm.. I am typing as I am thinking at the same time (music from [...]

UNIQLO as a fashion / everyday basics wear label have produced TWO very innovative desktop based brand experiences. UNIQLO CALENDAR + UNIQLOCK.
UNIQLO Calendar is a web project by UNIQLO where individuals can set their location, country and city and the calendar then shows the weather information of the city. the 3 main features of [...]

I almost forgot about MUJI, they have an incredible website. They have used a very interesting moving interface to scroll through their products and is unlike the other websites so far. You would have to visit the actual website to understand what i mean. Though here are some screen shots. Other sites on this page [...]

Simple, straight forward, sleek e-commerce websites. MY favourite being the HABITAT site, partly bcos I have been looking at their sites alot for their simple design. Also, the website was MY Habitat which like MYecorestore.com The still images of the website does not do justice to the simple flash animation on their website.

More shopping sites, but this time they are all selling t-shirts. The most common form of clothing for sale online. How do they differentiate?

I furthered my search into surf/ski/snowboard/skate/street clothing websites as after looking at some of them out there. They are usually vibrant, colourful and display their products in a enticing fashion. And are a little more attention grabbing.. or so i thought.. turns out there has always been a very fixed/table/grid like structure. Starting with my [...]

Browsed around for good e-commerce websites for ideas and inspiration for myecorestore.com.
Here are my favourites.
I was trying to pay more attention to>>
How they displayed their products?
How does the User interface of the Shopping Cart system work?
