This is the campaign roll out for my Food Myths campaign.
Campaign Aim:
1. To inform of a better labelling system which helps consumers make quicker and informed decisions on their purchases. Also, as the FSA Traffic Light Scheme is a voluntary scheme, it allows companies like Tesco and Morrisons to get away with [...]

With the campaign posters, outdoor advertisements and web banners done. Where do they all lead to? As the copy says, http://showmethelight.co.uk
Taking some design and colour references from the current Food Standards Agency website + keeping to the consistency of the campaign. Here is the homepage for http://showmethelight.co.uk
The main purpose of the website was to petition [...]

I created this banner and presented it at the Cranfield University feedback session. Everybody seem to love the headless chicken which prods you to take part in the ‘race’. Although of course, there is not race and its there to just make you click ‘Lets Go!’ Further below are visualisations of how the banner would [...]

So I decided to make my own web banners. My idea was to build upon the main idea of the initial poster, which was to emphasize on the confusion non-traffic light colours give. I did a few tests and they are as seen below.

It was a bit of a challenge to be able to grab these web banners and put them onto my blog as usually they embedded into the website. But nonetheless, here are some good ones which I have found. They are very interactive and attention grabbing, or at least intriguing. [Source]

Put this online and you have something more effective
DO WEB BANNERS STILL WORK?
From my work experience at Creative Review, I had the opportunity to create a number of web banners for them as well as for their clients. And from there I learnt how it works, how you pay and how you charge for [...]

So after assessment, it was time to further the FOOD MYTHS campaign. With the primary poster done, it will set the look and style for the ONLINE ads to compliment the ads on the streets.
Still focusing on the strengths and easy-to-use communicative behavior of the traffic light system,I wanted to create a web banner which [...]

The body text in the poster still required a fair bit of reworking and I had a feedback tutorial with Sian today. Here are some of her comments on it; body text still needs some twinkering, don’t repeat the word information twice in the same sentence, change the word ‘pleasant’ to something else as a [...]

Managed to work something out for the COPY in the Traffic Light poster, based on the feedback from Monica I have placed the traffic light system in the supermarket aisles. Photographed the supermarket aisle as you can see in my previous post here, http://hello.iampingpong.com/?p=1619. All going smoothly I must say. So here are some jpegs [...]

Caught this film the other day, Food Inc. I chanced upon it while doing research on food sources and labelling. Very insightful documentary, though it is based around the United States. Learnt more from their website which showed their activist side of the documentary which is the whole purpose of the documentary. Learnt how to [...]

I made a midnight visit to 24hr Supermarket in London to try to get some sneak photographs of the supermarket aisles, based on feedback from Monica, I would place the traffic lights IN the supermarket aisles as supposed to placing it on the street as seen in the first mock-up below. [...]

So I met Monica and showed her two possible outcomes to my Food Myths brief and from the feedback session with her, it was more or less decided to stick with the original idea of using a Traffic Light as the imagery to communicate the importance of clear food labeling. One of the things she [...]

Moving on from the last post where I explored more ideas, http://hello.iampingpong.com/?p=1385, I decided to work with the headline of ‘I Was Cheated by a Label’. Label referring to food labeling of course and not to be confused with labels in the form of fashion labels or stereotypes, I would have to make sure I [...]

Taken from my previous post, http://hello.iampingpong.com/?p=1552
First, when the manufacturers reduce fat, it usually adds other ingredients to make up for the taste. Fat is used to add flavor and texture to foods. If you look at cream cheese, the regular version and the fat free version, you will [...]

So moving on from the idea of ‘I WAS CHEATED BY A LABEL’, http://hello.iampingpong.com/?p=1385
I started looking at stock images from getty and imagebank for inspiration which I could either purchase or reshoot the photograph myself. Here’s a collage of the images I picked from their database of thousands of photographs. Will be shortlisting the images [...]

The Truth Behind Fat Free or Low Fat Food Which No One Has Ever Told You

Many thought that they have made better choice with low fat yogurt or low fat milk or even low fat candy, seldom do they realize that they have actually been “outsmart” or misled [...]

Advertising is all about provocation. In a world that is overloaded with media and imagery advertisers are always looking for ways to make the message stand out. This campaign claims that obesity is suicide. Is this a public service campaign or something else…? http://bit.ly/dbYnof and http://bit.ly/K65um
From all the advertisements so far which [...]

Ad below from http://sweetscam.com/ which is a campaign address the food myths surrounding sweeteners.
I like the simplistic nature of the website, clean cut and honest looking, it has a feeling of transparency, organic and honesty of it’s messaging to it. Lots of white, use of Serif fonts.
Might copy their links on their [...]

Weigh Watchers organization found a very simple and interesting decision to promote their services. Everybody is familiar with tear-off posters often seen in supermarkets or street blackboards. But usually they are too boring to attract any attention. In this case, the tear-off layout [...]

We haven’t seen enough 1984 references lately, so let’s thank the Center for Consumer Freedom (an advocacy group funded by food companies) for giving the world this sarcastic Big Apple/Big Brother poster in response to the New York City Health Department’s nanny-state campaign against junk food. Granted, NYC’s human-fat ad was [...]

I had a look around on funny advertisements which had to do with the concept of cheating and here are a list of the best ones I found. Here is one from Mr Sub commercials: Not Everyone Likes Surprises.
//
New funny commercials for Canadian sandwich shop Mr. Sub. The “Not Everyone Likes Surprises” campaign [...]

The U.K. is using The Simpsons as an unlikely platform to promote healthy eating and fight obesity among British families.
As part of their Change4Life campaign, the British Department of Health began running ads at the opening of sponsored episodes of the long-running series on U.K. TV network Channel 4. The ads, [...]

Did a look around adfreak.com adland.com amongst other advertising sites and found a few nice ads with the theme of a Label.
I liked the wit and use of colour in this ad. EAT YOUR GREENS. You would think they were referring to vegetables but it actually referred to the GREEN lights labelled on [...]
